Housing Support Grant Evaluation

Background

As part of the treatment and recovery investment package, £53m of funding has been allocated to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to improve the housing support offer for those using substance misuse treatment services. DLUHC are currently running a pilot programme in 28 Local Authorities of a new housing support grant model. This model aims to provide people who use drugs and alcohol with access to support workers and/or financial aid in order to assist them to stay in their current accommodation or find more appropriate housing.

Evaluation Questions

This evaluation will seek to answer the following questions:

  • What implementation of the housing support grant carried out as intended?
  • What barriers and facilitators were experienced on the ground?
  • How has the wider and local context influenced delivery of the housing support grant?
  • What did and did not work (for who, where and why)?
  • How have housing support services contributed to changes in health outcomes in service users, including the identification of any unexpected outcomes?
